Martin Rössel - För Mycket Tid LP 1983

If you liked martins side on revolverkäke youre in for a treat here, as most of the material here is in the same vein. from the funny, country-parody "vardagsproblem" to the haunting "nina" (a sort of remake of lilla fågeln on revolverkäke, dedicated to his sister), expressing a mature depth in songwriting that he never really managed to live up to on his later recordings. mostly its brilliant in its lush pop-format, expressing a wide range of emotions. theres even a fine cover of satellite of love, another wink to his ancestors, lou reed and the velvet underground. highly recommended!

Really, Virgin Atlantic? You couldn't have made a commercial without the horrific gender stereotypes? Apparently they want us to live in a world where the men are the pilots and the businessmen, and the (skinny, white) women are flight attendants dressed in short red skirts and stripper heels. Thanks, Virgin, for your big middle finger to the feminist movement.

I still think the film, despite how easy it is to make fun, is one of the best and most brilliantly executed action films in the last 20 years. It certainly taps into the nostalgia of those like us who grew up with this prototype of the action film, and few are better than Point Break. If Michael Bay were making this film today, there would be no hope. Bigelow creates a fine balance between hyperkinetic action filmmaking and being able to keep her camera still long enough for the viewer to understand the action scene. (Again, the chase is a perfect example of this).

This is fantastic, really unique, every song is different and they work together. Love that Duane Eddy guitar slashing through the rumbling synth murk. The world wouldn't have been ready for this in 1984 (and in Australia my chances of hearing this in 1984 would have been fairly remote) but it easily might have been released in 2008 by some happening band.
